The production facilities of the ABB branch cover an area of several thousand square meters. Hundreds of employees work here. It was precisely their shortage that prompted the company's management to come up with the idea of opening the doors of their halls to a virtual tour. They wanted to reach out not only to new employees.
ABB s.r.o.: HR virtual tour in action
Tisíce m² v jedné prohlídce
For ABB’s Brno branch, we created an extensive virtual tour covering thousands of square meters of production space.
Preparing large production halls across two sites with hundreds of employees and capturing them within three scheduled sessions was a complex task. Employees were briefed in advance on how the photography would take place. We also brought a 4-meter-high tripod, allowing us to capture not only eye-level shots but also elevated views that best highlight the scale of the production halls.
Prohlídka, která pomáhá HR oddělení
The Jablonec branch, however, chose a different approach—they primarily wanted to attract new employees to their attractive facilities, so we looked for ways to further improve the concept.
The project for ABB’s Jablonec branch was a challenge in many respects. We managed to handle it successfully and developed a creative virtual tour that engages visitors. This is mainly thanks to dynamic video sequences that show what the work on each production position actually involves.
Thousands of people from around the world viewed the tour
After several rounds of comments and their incorporation, our favorite part came — the opening of the virtual tour to the whole world. We created a separate link for the English version of the tour so that the client could also send the tour to partners abroad. They could see the modern production halls of the Brno branch with their own eyes in breathtaking quality. In the first month after its launch, the tour was visited by 2,000 people from more than 60 countries around the world.
„I would like to thank you for our collaboration on the virtual tour. So far, we have received only positive feedback, and I strongly believe that this will continue to be the case.“
„Feedback on the tour has been very positive, both from colleagues and the public. We now actively use the tour not only in tenders and certifications for retailers, but also in recruitment campaigns on social networks.“
Panoramata se špetkou živé akce
Production in these modern halls is largely automated. During the site visit, we encountered unique robotic workstations at every step. Together with the client, we concluded that the best approach would be to show both robots and employees in motion.
We therefore proposed creating short video clips integrated directly into static panoramic photography. The client was very enthusiastic about the idea.
Prohlídka v tónech firemního brandu
With corporate giants like ABB, we always strictly follow their brand visual identity—both in color scheme, line work, and iconography. The client appreciated this approach, and we fine-tuned every detail together. We created a minimalist interface with clear structure and navigation. Visitors could always choose directly within the view where they wanted to go next.
Texty si klient upravoval naživo
The tour contained a very large number of scenes (106 in total). Each of them was linked to multiple info points describing individual devices or processes, including an English version. We therefore had to develop an efficient workflow that would allow both us and the client to process the content quickly and easily.
We prepared a comprehensive Google Sheets document where ABB employees filled in technical information for each scene. We then connected the spreadsheet to the virtual tour using JavaScript.
Interaktivní mapa přímo v prohlídce
The client also wanted to include an interactive floor plan in the tour, allowing visitors to see which building they are currently in. We adapted the provided DWG data, aligned it with the client’s CID visual style, and integrated it into the tour. During a virtual walkthrough of the extensive production facilities, no one will ever get lost again.
Simultánní fotografování a natáčení
How do you capture a static panorama and video from the same angle at the same time? For projects like this, we developed a dual-camera setup to eliminate parallax error, allowing individual segments within the tour to be animated.
This approach creates the effect of a 360° video without compromising viewing quality, as only selected elements are animated. The client highly appreciated this solution, as it keeps the spaces clean, sharp, and highly presentable.
