How is a destination video created?

Every place has its own unique Genius loci. Video creation is an art that consists of capturing this intangible atmosphere of a place. We carefully select and combine shots so that viewers can fully enjoy the spirit of the place. How is a destination video created?

We enjoy creating videos. We shoot videos with care and attention to detail to give viewers the most beautiful visual experience possible. We want people to feel the uniqueness of the place they are watching when they watch the video. Every place has its own unique Genius loci. Video production is an art that consists of capturing this intangible atmosphere of a place. We carefully select and combine shots so that viewers can fully enjoy the spirit of the place. We believe that even the smallest detail contributes to the perfect whole. How is a destination video created?

1. Preparation

At the initial meeting, we will determine the purpose of your video. Who should it appeal to? What is the goal? How long should it be? Based on your answers, we will develop a concept for the destination video and design a moodboard. This will express the artistic intent of the destination video and capture the right mood and unique atmosphere of the place. We will choose a color palette that will determine the tone of the video.

Color palette design example:

After we agree on the mood board, we can head out into the field. We will explore the location in detail, observe it, and monitor all the details (such as the sun's path during the day)

Once we have all the important information, we will create a storyboard. This detailed video story describes the selection of scenes and shots, filming technology (hyperlapses, drone shots), and editing method (dynamic editing, flow). We will fine-tune the storyboard with you to your complete satisfaction.

2. Planning

Before filming, we plan all activities in detail. The most important thing is to create a logistics plan with a schedule. The plan includes a detailed breakdown of shots at specific times for each team. We need more teams so that we can film more locations in ideal lighting conditions.

3. Filming

Finally, it's time to start filming. The evening before filming, we go through the shots to make sure we have all the equipment we need, charge the batteries, and check the backups. We have the technical facilities in our living quarters.

The key to getting the best shot is timing. We planned this shot about a month in advance, monitoring conditions (humidity, weather forecasts, and cloud cover).

What filming methods do we use?

Timelapse video

Our timelapse videos are packed with energy. We can plan smooth time-lapse photography with regard to weather, movement and cloud layers, sunrise and its precise focus. Look forward to perfectly smooth timelapse shots without flickering.

Static shots

Excellent for capturing details accurately — for example, a shot of a chef's hands adds authenticity and a human dimension to the video.

Hyperlapses

Hyperlapse shots spice up every destination video. For example, we can capture the accelerated transition from night to day in motion, as if from a camera dolly (we use our own method, which we have not yet seen in Czech videos).

A big advantage of hyperlapses is that people's faces are blurred, which means we don't have to worry about GDPR. This allows us to film historic city centers without unnecessary paperwork. We enrich masterfully executed hyperlapses with authentic sounds directly from the scene to draw the viewer into the action.

Hyperlapses can also be shot indoors, for example, flying through a building.

Drone footage

Drone footage always looks great. During the golden hour, air shots are even more beautiful. That's why we are ready on set (sometimes on multiple sets) at this time of day to capture the most luxurious shots with our drone.

For technicians: When filming, we can handle even more complex camera movements, such as a push-in combined with a drop and a pan up. Or the generally popular orbit combined with zooming in or out while dropping or rising. However, we often use a simple reveal or push-in.

4. We fine-tune the video, add visual effects and sound design

And we're back in the studio, where we can start post-processing — we edit and adjust the footage to perfection.

We work in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, and we tune the colors in Davinci Resolve. We supplement the videos with infographics, text, and hand-drawn and animated maps. Final coloring and rendering are a matter of course.

Infographics
We can freshen up the destination video with an animated drawing of the location. It is also possible to add text directly to the sights so that the viewer knows exactly what is being talked about in the spoken commentary.

Sound design

Sound design is key to creating the feeling that the viewer is right there in the moment. To appeal to all the senses, we record sounds on location and fine-tune them in post-production.

What equipment do we use?

  • Equipment: Blackmagic 6K, 4K, Canon (L series) and Sony (G Master lenses), ultra-wide focal lengths, e.g., for shooting in confined interiors.
  • Sony A7R3, Sony A7S3, Atomos Ninja monitor, and Atomos Inferno
  • Drone: Inspire 2, Zenmuse X7 lenses: 16mm, 35mm, 50mm
  • Drone 2: DJI Mavic 2 Pro - for orbits, push-ins (backup drone)
  • Drone 3: DJI Mavic 3 Cine - for orbits, push-ins
  • Stabilizer: Ronin RS 2 Pro, Ronin MX, Easy Rig
  • Sound: Zoom h6 black, Zoom H2n
  • Lights: Aputure for interior lighting as needed (we can also light from outside to simulate sunlight), reflectors, diffusion panels, fog machine, mini power station.
